Third level (Advanced level):

 

The student should achieve the following after completing the 3rd level:

  • Biu Jee Form
  • material contained and studied within the Biu Jee form are:
    • Emergency Methods when one is surprised or when in recovery.
    • Regaining one’s centre
    • Changing one’s centre
    • Short Bridge and Long Bridge combined in Use
    • Greater use of Elbows (3 Types)
      • Kap Djarn – Vertical Elbow
      • Kwai Djarn – Diagonal Elbow
      • Pai Djarn – Horizontal Elbow
    •  Generating more Power through a lower stance ,hip and core action
    • Biu Jee – Channeling the energy to the fingers
    • Gan Sau
    • Au Choi
  • Advanced Chi Sao
  • Advanced Conditioning.
  • Wooden dummy form ( Section 3 to 6)

 

More about Biu Jee

An old proverb states that Biu Jee But Chut Mun or Biu Jee doesn’t go out the door. This can be interpreted several ways but the most common:

“Biu Jee Form isn’t taught to non Disciples”

Biu Jee, (Darting Fingers) is the third  form of the Wing Chun System. Biu Jee has numerous interpretations to its function within the system. Most Wing Chun systems agree that the Biu Jee form teaches how to regain your centre and how to create a new centreline once the original one is lost, hence sometimes called “emergency techniques”. As such the Biu Jee form is useful to recover from mistakes and/or being trapped or when one’s structure is broken and compromised.

The Biu Jee form to some is the natural progression and expression of Wing Chun power, and without it the practitioner’s Wing Chun, will only get to a certain level, but saying that knowing Biu Jee without mastering Siu lim Tao, then Chum Kiu, will honestly be a waste of time. Masters will confirm that it is not the amount of knowledge that counts but the quality of what is learnt and acquired over time.

The Biu Jee form is seen by many as a micro adjustment form, that allows one to adjust in relation to one’s opponent. The Biu Jee form teaches Huen Mah, Say ha Mah (Circling Horse), Yee Mah (Moving Horse) as well as the obvious elbow strikes (3 types). Short bridge coupled with Long bridge motions. Several other unique methods are introduced such as the Au Choi( Also found in our second form) , Gan Sau, ect… It is also performed in a much wider stance than the other two previous forms.
